Paint by Pixels Challenge Competition
St. Mary’s College, Derry is delighted to offer your P5, P6 and P7 students the exciting opportunity to take part in our Digital Schoolhouse Paint by Pixels Challenge.

The competition launched on Wednesday 1st December and closes on Friday 18th March.
To enter students just need to complete the Paint by Pixels Challenge 6-page booklet. This booklet is designed for students to complete independently. There is an option to complete some work on computer after they finish the main challenges. We will accept entries of both plugged and unplugged work i.e. those completed using Microsoft Excel (template provided) and also entries completed by hand.
Playing on the popular paint by numbers game completing this challenge will enable your students to 'see' and manipulate bits and pixels to create their own graphics. Helping them to understand a key concept in computational thinking, Data Representation while at the same time enhancing Digital Literacy skills.
If you are interested in your students entering the competition please feel free to share the attached Challenge Booklet. Alternatively if you would like hard copies delivered to your school please respond to this email with your school name and the numbers of copies required which we will deliver to your school. Hard copies can also be collected from St. Mary’s College, Northland Road if this is more convenient. We are also delighted to offer on-site workshops at St. Mary’s College on a first come basic or support in your own school if preferred.
There will be one overall winner’s prize of a Nintendo Switch and exciting year group prizes for both plugged and unplugged entries! All students who complete and return the challenge booklet will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement.
