St Mary's College has taken another step in innovating its curriculum with the introduction of its 'DigiTech' programme for 11-14 year olds. 'DigiTech' will involve all 11-14 year old pupils studying programming, gaming, app design, multimedia editing and web development, Computer Aided Design and production. They will also complete a qualification equivalent to GCSE. Industry standard software will be used in both the IT and Technology & Design departments with a view to equipping pupils with the skills and know-how necessary for a job in the IT/Engineering sectors. It is also part of the wider concept of 'Digital Derry' with young people being highly skilled in the IT sector, who will become the entrepreneurs and innovators of the future.
