Teaching Thinking Skills: A Practical Approach
On Thursday 18th March 2010 St Mary's College, in conjunction with RTU and IiP will hold its 2nd annual learning conference. The theme for this year's conference is 'Teaching Thinking Skills: A Practical Approach'. All primary, secondary, grammar and special schools in the city have been invited and they will be joined by local councillors, politicians and leading business members of the community.
Last year the Learning Conference was a resounding success due to the participation of so many schools across the city. This year's conference will follow a similar format with more time for networking and sharing of ideas.
Professor Carol McGuinness, Head of Cognition, Development and Education Research Cluster at Queen's University has agreed to open the conference with a keynote address on the contribution the teaching of Thinking Skills can make to young people's learning. Those attending the conference will also have the opportunity to hear from a range of speakers, some of whom include Mr P Heaney Steelstown PS, Mr R. Mason Portora Royal School and Dr Damien O’Kane UU.
If you would like to attend the conference please contact the school on (028) 71363154 or e-mail at
