The Northern Ireland Commission for Catholic Education's (NICCE) Post Primary Review team launched a consultation document for Derry City in March 2010. The document 'Catholic Education For All' proposes to establish a Derry City Foundation of schools whereby all schools will be strongly collaborative, mutually supportive, viable and sustainable 11-19 all ability schools catering for about 7,000 young people. This Foundation would require a number of changes including a move away from academic selection and the use of agreed admissions criteria. It also proposes that all schools would become co-ed i.e. boys and girls taught together.
NICCE want to hear from parents, teachers and staff in schools and indeed anyone who has an interest in the delivery of children’s education or who will be affected by these proposals. You can respond at
The deadline for the receipt of responses is 30th June 2010.
